Bunny Food on the Window Sill

In the quest for more leafy greens I’m experimenting with a bit of window sill growing. Two weeks ago I sowed timothy grass, dandelion and carrots seeds to see which would be most productive. The grass is off to the best start with quick germination and 3 inches of growth already. The carrots are slightly slower and the dandelion (the weeds that will grow anywhere) haven’t even shown their heads yet!

Poor bunnies, still a bit of a wait before there is anything to eat. Later on this month I’m going to be starting my proper carrots off and I’ll post some easy instructions in case anyone else wants a go.

You see what the problem is, don’t you? the poor little dandy seeds are in the pot with only one !, whereas the grass has three !!!s and the carrots are a bit handicapped with two !!s Who knew that seeds would be able to read what was on the outside of their pots……

Lol, I hadn’t noticed they had different numbers of !. I’ll break out a marker and see if I can cheer them up a bit.

Humphrey thoroughly approves and now insists I create my own bunny food garden. Which I do plan to do – using some of the new children’s gardening stuff!

Have you tried oat grass? We have had really good luck with it in containers.

I haven’t but I will give it ago, thanks. I think we ended up with oats or something similar growing in the garden years back when we still fed mix instead of pellets and that had lovely thick leaves.
