National Microchipping Month

June is National Microchipping Month in the UK. Look out for events near you offering discounted microchipping. A microchip is a chip the size of a grain of rice which is injected into the back of an animals neck. It stores a unique reference number that’s linked to your contact information, if your pet goes missing it can be traced back to you.

Should rabbits be microchipped? It’s much more common for dogs and cats to be chipped as they are more likely to get lost. Some branches of the larger welfare charities scan and chip stray rabbit’s bit many rescues don’t scan rabbits to check for chips. Whether it’s worth chipping your rabbit is up to you.
